Growing up on the wagon train

Lacey Int Veldt's Story

Let's get to meet some of our board members and what it looks like for them to be involved in the Fort Seward Covered Wagon Train! Some of the board members are life long trail goers and some are newer to the ride! We love the variety our board holds on age and wisdom along with different view points on continuing to grow our overall experience for guest!

Let's meet Lacey!

Lacey grew up on a small farm in North Dakota that raises cattle. Lacey enjoys spending her time with her family and pursuing her hobbies! Lacey is a talented photographer, you will see her out on the trail through out the week taking pictures for those keepsakes our guest love! Lacey also enjoys bowling on her free time.

Lacey has been involved in the Wagon Train since she was 9 years old, when her mom took over as registrar. Lacey now serves on the board as President.

Growing up on the wagon train there are core memories that are made, Lacey said her favorite memories growing up on the train were running around with all of the friends she made. As they got older playing cards and sitting by the campfire at night became new staples for her favorite parts of the week. During the week you'll find you will have a favorite day of the trail, mainly because each day offers something new and exciting. Lacey's favorite day on the train is Wednesday. Wednesday is the shortest day of the week in regards to being on the trail, but it is one of the most loved days because it's Prairie Olympics day! Lacey loved this day as a child, but now being an adult she enjoys watching the kids during the day participate in the events and watching the joy on their faces!

Lacey is a true been there done that on the trail but her advice is still "expect the unexpected" for those coming on the trail. She said "because every year is different. The group of people, the horses, the weather, the mishaps! We never know what to expect day to day.".  Lacey is passionate about encouraging all who are able to attend to try, stating "it helps regain perspective on life, We have everything at our fingertips now, and the wagon train shows the hard work it took for our settlers to be where we are today. Sacrifice, work, being electronic-free, and more. We get a chance to step back in time to where everything was treasured because it was earned. People come as strangers & leave with life long friendships.".

We're so fortunate to have such a passionate president representing our Fort Seward Covered Wagon Train.
